Primal Pattern Drawings
Living close to the land, I notice small details: the essence of form and the exquisite patterns found in plant structures, tree rings, insects, and stones. Making these drawings is a meditation weaving me into the web of creation. As I walk in the forest, I notice the texture of bark, and the spiral of a snail shell. I see the branching flow patterns of rivers and the spiral spinning of galaxies. These patterns, seen again and again in the natural world, and in the artwork and decoration of peoples throughout ancient and contemporary cultures, speak to me of marking time, of cycles, and of the infinite.
